Last Gang of Four member dies

Yao Wenyuan (姚文元), the last living member of the Gang of Four (四人幫), died a few weeks ago, according to the New York Times.

Interesting that of the four members of the Gang of Four, two of them -- Yao and Zhang Chunqiao (張春橋) -- had journalism/propaganda backgrounds. In Marxist-Leninist systems, propaganda holds a key role that not only agitates the public to support for Communist parties as they rise to power, but also helps them stay in power despite questionable policies and campaigns (e.g., Great Leap Forward [大躍進], Cultural Revolution [文化大革命], etc.)
